The Texas Triangle.
In the United States the most noted UFO hot-spot is the so called "Texas Triangle." This is a strip of land with triangular sides approximately 180 miles in
length. It runs between Texas and Albuquerque in New Mexico and includes the by now infamous, and much talked about location of Roswell. This incident which involved the alleged recovery of an alien
space vehicle and the examination of a corpse reputed to be of extraterrestrial origin barely needs introduction.
In reality Roswell is only one of many strange events to occur in the "triangle". Others include a wave of UFO sightings that coincided with a sequence of car
stoppages in the mid-fifties. Typically these incidents involved several or more drivers on lonely roads. The appearance of strange oval shaped objects led to immediate loss of power and a sensation of
prickly heat that made areas of the witnesses skin red and itchy.
The Socorro Encounter.
One of the most incredible incidents associated with the "Texas Triangle" is the Socorro encounter. On the 24th of April 1964 patrolman Lonnie Zamora was
chasing a speeding car when he was alerted by a loud explosion. Abandoning his chase he immediately made for the vicinity of the roar where he was astonished to find a metallic egg the size of a car
perched close to a rock outcrop. Two humanoid figures dressed in white coveralls then emerged from the craft, but quickly got back. Suddenly blue flames erupted from the object which lifted in the air
before disappearing to the south-west.
By the time assistance arrived the patrolman was severely shaken. Still very much in evidence however was a smoking bush and four imprints where the base of the space ship
had landed.
Because of the evidence, and status of the witness, the Socorro incident is classed as one of the best authenticated cases of UFO encounter on record.
It is also in this area that many of the classical and best published UFO photographs have been taken, a fact that to this very day still continues to justify the areas reputation as a renowned hot-spot for unexplained aerial phenomenon.
