Alien Messages!
.A curious feature of UFO encounters is their ability to interfere with mechanical and electrical equipment! Radio and television are particularly affected.
During the peak of some UFO flaps, televisions in the vicinity have been known to go haywire with strident Morse code-like bleeps and buzzes that have also been known to
affect radios and telephones. Then there are elements of time dislocation and bizarre jumps of beamed signals across vast distances!
Bournemouth Incident.
Some years ago on the south coast in Bournemouth a couple returning from a late-night party decided to check out if any French television channels were still running! After
playing around with the tuning for awhile they were incredulous to find they could receive programmes from the other side of the Atlantic in America! Further investigation deepened the mystery yet
further! It was eventually discovered that the programmes had been broadcast at least five months previously! Apparently this was a phenomenon experienced by many other late night owls flicking through
the channels - and all this well before the era of satellite television!
Trans-Atlantic Connection.
In 1953 there was another bizarre incident! On the North West coast in Morecambe a specialist in long distance TV picked up the call-sign for KLEE-TV, in Houston, Texas,
USA. This was remarkable enough but further enquiry revealed this particular call sign had been out of use for over three years! The same person picked up similar time delayed signals four years later in
1957. Once again these signals seemed to have been bouncing around space - their strength undiminished by the passing of the years!
Although it isn't known if there were any UFO sightings at the time of these transmissional curiosities, electrical disturbances form a consistent background to most UFO
encounters, and I soon turned up even more fascinating material which seemed to set the whole idea in much sharper focus!
Time-delay signals.
Apparently TV's and radios are not the only things to suffer strange anomalies in their reception! In 1927 it was reported that two American scientists had received
strangely delayed signals from space. Apparently signals were somehow finding their way beamed back to Earth after a delay of some considerable time!
Even more curious was the fact that the reception of these signals was staggered into intervals that appeared far too precise for them to have been the product of mere
chance alone! The mystery deepened! More experiments were conducted, and to the amazement of all concerned it was found that signals beamed out into space were returning to their point of origin after
three of four weeks! Once again these signals exhibited apparently intelligent intervals in the spacing of their transmission, like an elaborate form of celestial morse-code!
Further Investigation.
The unfolding puzzle of this bizarre episode was duly reported and published in the German science magazine Naturwisennschaften ( natural science ) in 1929. Naturally this
provoked a vigorous exchange of views that progressed very little towards understanding the phenomenon! Other attempts to repeat the experiment were carried out by various other groups in different parts
of the world!
Remarkably the net result was the same - signals beamed out into space would somehow finish up beamed back to their point of origin after a delay of weeks or even months!
Here too there was the added fascination of the signals arranging themselves into definite time intervals!
Alien satellite.
Writer and explorer Erich Von Daniken made mention of the time delay phenomenon in his book In Search of Ancient Gods, commenting: "Apart from a few experts, no
one knows that an artificial satellite has been revolving in our solar system for 13000 years!" According to Von Daniken the answer to this mystery was of alien origin! He quoted that in 1960 a
Professor RN Bracewell of the Radio Astronomic Institute of Stanford University, "had said that if an alien intelligence had wanted to get in touch with us it might possibly do so by the delayed
return of radio signals!"
Star Chart.
An even more bewildering twist to the saga was soon to be revealed! Studies made by the president for the Association in Scotland for Technology and Research in
Astronautics, revealed that the signals could be broken down and decrypted in a manner that seemed to show the outline of a star chart. When this outline was converted onto a detailed map of the sky the
bewildered researcher found to his amazement that it corresponded to a region in the constellation of Bootes! The evidence seemed to focus on the star Epsilon Bootes, and a delighted Professor Bracewell
of Stanford University is on record as claiming: " The maps produced.... can be adduced as a possibility of communication with another intelligence!"
Bracewell also went on to add that such a satellite camped in orbit around our world would want to communicate with us in a pictorial method of digital origin! In this way
the decrypted picture - like the star map - could furnish important information in the universal language of science - numerical evidence!
Decoded Intervals.
Duncan Lunan who had conducted this research believed the alien satellite had been in orbit in the solar system for over 12000 years! He believed it's purpose was to
intercept and return signals at delayed intervals so that eventually scientists on Earth would realise what was happening! Writing in 1973 Lunan believed the decoded intervals also gave out the following
information: "Our home sun is Epsilon Bootes. It is a double star. We live on the sixth or seventh planet. Counted from the sun which is the larger of the two. Our sixth planet has one moon, our
fourth planet has three and our first and third planets one each. Our satellite is in orbit round your moon."
Space University.
Von Daniken writes that the satellite is something by the way of an intergalactic space university with memory banks containing a wealth of invaluable knowledge and
information for astronomers, geneticists, doctors and physicists!
Always assuming this satellite does exist then you have to conjecture that maybe it isn't the only one! Other experts in the field believe there may be several! But if so
wouldn't they be detected by Earth based sensors? The answer is almost certainly no! Even if the satellite was as large as a jumbo jet, this size would be completely lost in the magnitude of the
universe. In addition we would not be looking for it. Many sizeable natural objects like asteroids have remained totally undetected until making close passes with Earth! It means that something as
insignificant as a space satellite could go undetected virtually indefinitely. That is unless it wanted to draw attention to itself! And what better way of doing that than by intercepting signals and
beaming them back to Earth in a specially encrypted time delay!
The QE2 signal.
One of the best known of these time lapse signals was received by the luxury cruise ship the QE 2. Bound for America in 1978 the radio officer named Alan Holmes received a
message in Morse code employing a procedure that was no longer used. To his astonishment Holmes found that when decoded the signal turned out to be a routine position check from the old liner the Queen
Mary! Astonishing, because the gracious Atlantic veteran had long since ceased to rule the waves, and for 11 years had been a floating conference centre in Long Beach California!
Stunned and bewildered Holmes was at a loss to explain the incident which he described as a message "from another age"! His explanation: "This message could
have bounced out into space more than ten years ago and just zipped around until it found its way back to Earth, and we picked it up"!
Strange indeed, but another curious feature of this remarkable incident was the fact the message was picked up by the one person who would have most understood its
importance - almost as if beamed to him directly! Coincidence? Or was it that yet again there was an intelligence at work that was attempting to advertise its existence?
Military Chaos.
Another freakish twist to the phenomenon of time lapsed messages occurred during a military exercise around Imber Ranges, Southern England. In the early sixties Brigadier
Arengo Jones and his troops were irritated to find that their radio frequency had apparently been infiltrated by the navy who were presumably conducting an exercise in nearby waters! This inevitably
caused a great deal of consternation and considerable chaos! The clash of frequencies masked important radio transmissions and the troops on the ground were unable to understand precisely who they were
talking to. Red faced officers swore they would get to the bottom of the fiasco and a top level Whitehall inquiry was convened!
The army were particularly irate at the way the Admiralty seemed to have appropriated their radio frequencies and demanded an explanation. At first the Admiralty were at a
loss for words. Oddly they denied any knowledge of an exercise on that date; an explanation which the army took as a further example of their stubborn obduracy - taking inter-forces rivalry a little bit
too far! Mystified, the Admiralty continued to investigate, and eventually from transcriptions of the offending signals were astonished to discover that the exercise had taken place over six months
previously. In other words the troops on exercise had been caste into chaos by transmissions from a naval exercise that had taken place over half a year beforehand!
Explanations were not easy to come by. The phenomenon of time lapse signals was not so widely appreciated and certainly no one even suspected there might be an
extraterrestrial connection!
Mars Mission Mystery.
Inexplicable incidents are also known to have occurred during Mariner 4's mission to Mars in 1964! Entering the shadow of the planet it was unaccountably delayed in its
orbit for close on twelve minutes! In addition weird signals were picked up at the Australian monitoring station of Tidbinbilla, near Canberra! For awhile these interfered with Mariner 4's transmission
of electronic photographs and it was then discovered that a UFO was hovering in the vicinity of the base! When a fighter jet was scrambled, the unidentified object flew off at high speed and the signal
interference suddenly ceased!
Private Messages.
Strange messages are also known to have been targeted straight at private homes and individuals! In his book Visitors from Space author John Keel tells of an incident in 1961 in a town called Prospect, in the state of Oregon, USA. Two women talking on the phone one evening were suddenly interrupted by a strange man's voice who snapped "Wake up down there"! Immediately after this the voice broke into "a rapid fire language that sounded like Spanish, whereupon the line seemed to go dead and the women could not hear each other. After the man suddenly stopped, the line became live again!"
Apparently the next day there was a repeat of this weird incident except this time the voice recited a series of numbers to the women. Now this could easily be dismissed as
little more than a bizarre form of crank call, but if so it doesn't explain how the line would go dead. Additionally it is well known that during UFO flaps, voices counting down meaningless numbers have
often transposed themselves on radio and television broadcasts . In fact they seem inextricably linked to the whole phenomenon!
Voices in the head.
The whole phenomenon of strange voices might even explain certain nervous conditions when patients claim to hear voices! Up till now this has been looked upon as a sure sign
of mental instability! But is it? Perhaps these people really do hear voices - not the product of their own imagination, but voices beamed to them directly by some unknown source! Perhaps something in
their mental disposition makes them prone to receive these messages which we blithely ignore as the evidence of madness!
Moon bounce.
Some theories suggest time-delay signals might have beamed their way back off the moon - rebounding to and fro for up to a quarter of a century! This is certainly a
possibility, but the remarkable side to this phenomenon is, as remarked earlier, the fact that in many cases these messages were picked up by virtually the only people who could have made any sense of
them. In other words a millions to one chance - unless that is, something, or someone out there is deliberately trying to tell us something!
