Turmoil and tribulation
There is scarcely a disaster to have taken place in the last 400 hundred years without people wondering
whether it was foreseen by the prophet and mystic Michel de Nostradame, or Nostradamus as we have come to know him. This is not to be wondered at. Nostradamus predicted great turmoil and tribulation and
it is only natural for people of any succeeding age to attempt to read into his prophecies the scenario of any contemporary disaster, often upon the flimsiest of textual evidence.
Epoch making events.
Unfortunately there is a tendency to squeeze associations into the quatrains of Nostradamus where perhaps
none exist and generations of commentators have been too zealous in cross matching them with the mundanest of events. Mundane that is in comparison with the real epoch shaping events like 9/11, and now
the incredible disaster in South East Asia. For make no mistake the Indian Ocean earthquake and subsequent tidal wave stands as one of the greatest disasters in living memory. Moreover it has the
potential to change the world in countless different ways, just like 9/11 resulted in a fundamentally altered world. In other words just the sort of events that the quatrains of Nostradamus should relate
to.
The Indian Ocean disaster
So does Nostradamus foretell the South East Asian disaster? We believe that he does although reference is
brief and certain parts of the same quatrains have yet to be fulfilled. It has to be remembered that on many occasions Nostradamus split his quatrains in half. One half referring to one event and the
other to something totally different. In the end it is up to each individual to decide if these few brief references match up to the horror of the Indian Ocean disaster.
Century 3:3
In the aftermath of the South East Asia disaster we carefully reread Nostradamus’s entire book of quatrains
and selected two quatrains that seem to stand out. One is the third quatrain of Century 3. This reads as follows:
Mars, Mercury and Moon join together.
Towards the South extreme drought
In the depths of Asia the trembling of the Earth is reported
Corinth, Ephesus, then in perplexity.
This is an incredible prophesy. The first verse with its astronomical alignment fits perfectly with the days
leading up to the 26th December 2004. On the 24th of December Earth, Moon and Mars were in alignment. On the following day the 25th December 2004 - Christmas Day, Earth, Moon, and Mercury were in
alignment. It has to be said that in some parts of the world it was still Christmas Day when this disaster struck. It means that with regards the astronomical description supplied by Nostradamus this is
a perfect fit to the Earthquake, (“trembling of the Earth”) reported from the “depths of Asia,” i.e. South East Asia where this disaster took place.
Second Verse.
The second verse talks of an extreme drought in the South. This again is an important time setter because
over the last few years many nations have suffered conditions of extreme drought, ranging from large areas of Africa to India, and even nations not normally associated with drought conditions such as New
Zealand. Once again this verse fits with our current world situation.
Third verse
The last verse has Corinth and Ephesus in perplexity. This could mean earthquakes that strike at both places
because both are in renowned earthquake zones. Corinth in Greece has a long history of earthquakes and even mini tidal waves that from time to time have completely obliterated the city. In 373 BC a very
powerful earthquake wiped out the ancient city of Eliki which once stood on the southern shores of the Gulf of Corinth. In an instant the city was submerged below the sea as fault lines that straddle the
area plunged it permanently beneath sea and mud. Its entire population of 10,000 was wiped out and no trace of it was ever found until 2001.
Ephesus
Ancient Ephesus in today’s Turkey was home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World - the Temple of Artemis.
This was another place where earthquakes led to the demise of a once proud and prosperous area which remained lost and almost forgotten until 1873. In reference to both Corinth and Ephesus Nostradamus
may be implying another earthquake disaster to affect these long afflicted sites which given its population and commerce would today be much more devastating for Corinth than it would Ephesus. Only time
will tell...
Not so convincing but worth looking at.
The second quatrain that may be of relevance to the South East Asia disaster is not as convincing but is
included to let you make up your own mind on the subject. This states:
When those of the arctic pole are united
In the East will be great fear and dread
A new man elected by the great one who trembles.
Rhodes and Byzantium with barbarian blood will be tainted.
If this quatrain refers to the South east Asia disaster then the first verse may be a reference to
Christmas. Northern nations, nominally Christian, were in the midst of the Christmas festivities when the disaster struck. Hence “those of the Arctic pole united.”
The second verse speaks for itself - fear and dread in the east.
Third verse
The third verse may imply the election of a new Pope should the present one die. Nostradamus’s quatrains are
full of papal references and this seems as good an interpretation as any to this revealing but mystical quatrain.
The last verse is harder to interpret and will be left to the individual to make up their own mind.
Conclusion
In conclusion it appears that the first quatrain with its precise astronomical description is a match for
the terrible events in South East Asia. If so it forms merely a precursor to far more terrible events that lie ahead. Events that are described in a unique interpretation exclusive to this site.
